Translation of Botanicalls ARD German Radio and Television Network interview by Martina Buttler: "If your plant looks weak, it can help itself by calling you. Botanicalls was the idea of NYU Students, who put a sensor in the pot that checks how much water is in there and sends a signal to a computer if it's too much or too little and then the owner is called to let him know. Rob explains that the intensity of the calls has a progression. And the plant makes it known by its tone how it is feeling. But it doesn't call every 2 minutes, because people would turn off their phones. That's what the students experienced during the testing. The owner can call himself, too. It's something people would want for their homes. Clay explains how not all of his 30 plants survived and that he could use that system. The plants also call with positive feedback, so that your heart doesn't sink once the phone rings. If everything turns out the way the students want it to, the system could be on the market in summer."
