Most students and faculty at ITP have a blog of one sort or another. There’s way too many to keep track of. I’ve always thought it would be great to see them all at once. And not only great–also weird. Some people rant neurotically while others document dilligently. There’s explanations of code fragments, manifestos, photo essays, procrastinated class assignments and paradigm-shaking creations. We’re a strange brew.
Two nights ago while combing for WordPress installation instructions, I stumbled upon a Plug-in called FeedWordPress. This widget extends and transforms a regular WordPress blog into a digest of multiple ones. And for once in my sordid history of software downloading, it totally works the way I need it to. So here’s the first draft of the ITP BlogBlender. About 50 different feeds from ITP students faculty and staff unite to create a decidedly inspiring and eclectic site. Enjoy.

At ITP on Thursday evenings, students teach students in hour-long sessions that we call DriveBys. My second one was about doing research at NYU, our affiliated libraries and myriad of online services. The presentation was primarily for second-year students embarking on their Masters Thesis. I got help from Matt Burton who pointed out a lot of great non-NYU online resources. For those who missed it, I have posted a PDF of the presentation, and a video of the entire session that was masterfully taped by Dan Phiffer.

BBC Newshour covered the Botanicalls project today. Julian Marshall interviewed us and about an hour later news of Botanicalls reached the far corners of the British Empire. Thanks are due to the uncredited voice of Andrew Schneider as the Scotch moss plant. We’ll see that he gets the soaking he deserves.
The BBC originally learned about us from a Botanicalls ARD German Radio and Television Network interview by Martina Buttler. She was kind enough to give us a basic translation of the program.
